Pregnant Woman Allegedly Abducted After Armed Attack in Dera Murad Jamali; Families Stage Protest Sit-in
Dera Murad Jamali: A pregnant woman was allegedly abducted after armed men attacked a house and seriously injured her husband in Dera Murad Jamali, prompting hundreds of members of the Joya tribe to stage a protest sit-in outside the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in Nasirabad.
According to police, eight armed men stormed a house in the jurisdiction of Babakot Police Station near Dera Murad Jamali. The attackers allegedly opened fire, critically injuring Nadeem Joya before abducting his wife, Zahida Bibi, who is eight months pregnant. Police said the abducted woman is also the mother of five children.
Following the incident, hundreds of men, women, and children led by Mir Safar Khan Joya, provincial president of the Joya National Alliance Balochistan, held a sit-in outside the DIG Police Nasirabad Range office and blocked the road in protest.
The demonstrators alleged that the abductors belonged to the Chandrama Magsi tribe and accused the Station House Officer (SHO) of Babakot Police Station of supporting the suspects, an allegation that has not been independently verified.
The protesters demanded the immediate recovery of the abducted woman, the arrest of all those involved, the suspension of the Babakot SHO, and a high-level investigation into the incident.
They warned that if their demands are not met promptly, they will escalate the protest by blocking the national highway and staging an indefinite sit-in.
