Balochistan Suspends Ziarat SP, Forms High-Level Inquiry Committee Over Mangi Dam Terror Attack

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has suspended the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Ziarat and constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the terrorist attack at Mangi Dam on the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, the inquiry committee will be headed by the Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) and will include the Secretary of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), a senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, and a representative of the Intelligence Bureau.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of all events before, during, and after the terrorist attack, including the overall security response.
It will also examine the preparedness of security agencies, command and control arrangements, inter-agency coordination, and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
According to Shahid Rind, spokesperson and adviser to the Chief Minister, if the inquiry identifies negligence, operational shortcomings, or failures in responsibility, the committee will recommend disciplinary or legal action against those found responsible.
The committee has also been directed to propose immediate, medium-term, and long-term security measures for the protection of Mangi Dam and other key installations across the province. In addition, it will recommend policy, institutional, and operational reforms aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.

Officials said the inquiry panel has been granted full authority to obtain official records, summon officers, record witness statements, inspect the scene of the attack, and seek assistance from technical experts.
The committee has been instructed to submit its report to the provincial government within 15 days.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that any negligence or incompetence affecting the protection of people’s lives and property would not be tolerated.
