Pakistan Will Take All Necessary Measures to Secure Its Legitimate Water Share, Corps Commanders Declare
Islamabad: Pakistan’s Corps Commanders have declared that the country will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to ensure the availability of its legitimate share of water, according to a statement issued after the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference.
The meeting, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said.
The forum reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests at all costs. It stated that the directives issued by the National Security Committee on April 24, 2025, provide clear guidance on the country’s position regarding water resources.
The commanders stressed that Pakistan would “not refrain from taking any necessary measures” to ensure its rightful share of water, while taking note of India’s recent statements concerning the Indus Waters Treaty.
The conference also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, political, and moral support for the people of Kashmir, calling for the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
According to ISPR, the forum stated that lasting peace and stability in the region depend on preventing what it described as Indian proxy activities operating from Afghan territory under the control of the Afghan Taliban. It emphasized that Pakistan has the legitimate right to protect its citizens and defend itself against terrorism.
The participants strongly condemned alleged human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and rejected what they described as unilateral demographic changes in the disputed territory.
The forum also vowed to continue intelligence-based operations against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory and stressed the need for effective governance in terrorism-affected areas. It called for a strong administrative framework focused on public service and welfare while dismantling alleged links between terrorism, organized crime, and political patronage.
The statement further alleged that, following what it described as the enemy’s “defeat in the Battle for Truth,” hostile elements were attempting to spread instability through hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns. It warned that any such externally supported efforts would be dealt with firmly.
