Pakistan’s Crackdown on Illegal Migration Praised at Global Summit

Vienna:Pakistan’s efforts to combat illegal migration have received international recognition at the high-level meeting of the **Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling**, where European Union representatives praised the country’s recent progress in reducing irregular migration.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of State for Interior **Talal Chaudhry** said Pakistan’s successful strategy against illegal migration has become an example for other countries. He emphasized that irregular migration is not merely a border issue but a global challenge that requires coordinated international action.

Chaudhry stated that, under the leadership of Prime Minister **Shehbaz Sharif** and Interior Minister **Mohsin Naqvi**, Pakistan has achieved a **47 percent reduction** in illegal migration through effective policies and enforcement measures.

He stressed that expanding opportunities for legal migration is essential to addressing the root causes of irregular migration. According to the minister, the use of advanced technology, intelligence sharing, and stronger international cooperation are key to combating migrant smuggling and human trafficking.

Chaudhry further noted that promoting safe, orderly, and legal migration is critical for effectively preventing illegal migration in the long term.

Participants at the Global Alliance meeting also commended the **Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)** for its role and performance in tackling illegal migration and disrupting migrant smuggling networks.
