Pakistan Nursing Council Decides to Inspect Over 400 Nursing Colleges Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has decided to conduct inspections of more than 400 nursing colleges across the country following a key council meeting.
During the meeting, the council delegated all inspection-related powers to the President and Vice President of the council.
In a significant decision, the council ruled that the head of the inspection team will not necessarily be from the nursing profession. Instead, the team may be led by a doctor holding a master’s degree or a professional from the paramedical or allied health sciences.
According to sources, a representative from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was not invited to attend the meeting. Sources also claimed that a member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated despite the existence of a stay order.
Meanwhile, the council’s legal member expressed concern over alleged irregularities within the council and called for a formal inquiry into the matter.
