Sheer Afzal Marwat Supports Disciplinary Action Against Naseem Shah, Calls for Temporary Ban

Islamabad: Member of the National Assembly Sheer Afzal Marwat has voiced support for disciplinary action against cricketer Naseem Shah, stating that a temporary ban should be imposed to serve as a lesson for others.

Responding to questions about Naseem Shah’s controversial tweet and subsequent showcause notice, Marwat criticized the cricketer’s actions, saying, “First of all, you shouldn’t have done this. We don’t want sports fields to be contaminated by politics. When told that a mistake was made, simply apologizing would have sufficed. Instead, you lied that your account was hacked, which was recovered in just 12 minutes—covering one mistake with another.”

Marwat added that Naseem Shah has “lost public trust,” and while any ban falls under the jurisdiction of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), a short-term suspension is necessary to set an example for others.
