Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Endorses Remarks by Chinese Scholar Victor Gao on Indus Waters

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has endorsed remarks made by Chinese scholar Dr. Victor Gao, describing them as supportive of Pakistan’s position on the Indus River and its national interests.
Khawaja Asif shared Dr. Gao’s statement on his social media account, saying the remarks reflected support for Pakistan’s stance.
Dr. Victor Gao, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, made the comments while addressing a seminar on the Indus Waters Treaty. He said that no one should doubt China’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s core interests and territorial integrity.
He also stressed that the Pakistani people’s right to the uninterrupted flow of the Indus River should be recognized and respected.
The defence minister’s endorsement comes amid continued discussions over regional water issues and the implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty between Pakistan and India.
