Pakistan Passed on Greater Fuel Price Relief Than Global Decline, Says Petroleum Minister

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, said the government provided consumers with fuel price relief that exceeded the recent decline in international petroleum prices.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Malik said the first ten days of Muharram had passed peacefully, praising the Pakistan Army, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for their efforts in maintaining law and order.

The minister noted that the recent end of tensions between Iran and the United States had contributed to a decline in global oil prices.

He said that although international petroleum prices had fallen last week, the government provided even greater relief to the public. According to Malik, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ensured that the benefits were immediately passed on to consumers, with the government offering more relief than the reduction seen in the global market.

Ali Pervaiz Malik also accused certain elements of misleading the public regarding fuel prices, adding that Pakistan would continue to honor its international agreements while making decisions in the country’s best interest.
