PM Shehbaz Stresses Importance of Unhindered Maritime Routes for Global Trade and Economy

KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that the uninterrupted freedom of navigation through key international maritime routes is essential for global trade and the world economy.
Addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, the prime minister said recent regional developments had highlighted the critical importance of maritime security for international commerce and global economic stability.
He said that the right to free and unobstructed navigation along major sea lanes was no longer a privilege but a necessity for the international community.
Referring to the recent understanding between the United States and Iran, Shehbaz Sharif described the agreement as a matter of pride for Pakistan and appreciated the role played by friendly countries in facilitating the memorandum of understanding between the two nations.
The prime minister also praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for his efforts toward promoting peace, saying he had worked tirelessly to support regional stability. He added that Pakistan is recognized around the world as a country committed to peace.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that ensuring secure maritime routes is vital for protecting global supply chains and sustaining international trade, particularly in light of recent regional security challenges.
