US and Iran Agree to Establish Direct Communication Channel With Revolutionary Guard, Says JD Vance

Washington: U.S. Vice President JD Vance has revealed that the United States and Iran have agreed to establish a new direct communication channel involving Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a move aimed at reducing tensions and improving dialogue between the two countries.

In an interview with a British news website, Vance said a meeting between officials from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and representatives of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is expected to take place soon in Doha, Qatar.

According to Vance, the purpose of the talks is to narrow existing differences, build mutual trust, and explore ways to manage disputes through direct engagement. He said the discussions are also expected to cover potential areas of future cooperation and mechanisms for maintaining regional stability.

The U.S. vice president noted that the United Arab Emirates has also established new channels of communication with Iran that did not previously exist. He said these contacts include direct engagement with members of the Revolutionary Guard.

Vance added that the proposed dialogue with the IRGC could include discussions on economic incentives, broader economic cooperation, and issues related to regional security and stability.

He expressed hope that the new direct-contact mechanism would help reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran and create opportunities for improved relations in the future.

The announcement comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts by regional and international stakeholders to ease tensions in the Middle East and encourage greater communication between long-standing rivals.
