Sharjah Extends Paid Parking Hours Until Midnight Across the Emirate

Sharjah Municipality has announced an extension of paid public parking hours across the emirate, with the new regulations set to take effect on July 1, 2026.

Under the revised policy, parking fees will be charged from 8:00 a.m. until midnight in all paid parking zones across Sharjah City, Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Al Dhaid. The move standardizes operating hours across all paid parking areas by aligning zones marked with yellow signboards with those marked in blue, which previously had longer fee-charging periods.

The municipality clarified that public parking will continue to be free on Fridays and official holidays, except in designated zones where parking fees are applicable seven days a week, including public holidays.

Hamed Al Qaed, Director of the Public Parking Department at Sharjah Municipality, said the decision was made in response to the growing demand for public parking services amid the emirate’s ongoing economic and commercial expansion. He noted that extending paid parking hours until midnight would help ensure parking availability, prevent misuse of parking spaces, and address related challenges.

According to Al Qaed, the new measure aims to improve the utilization of public parking facilities, reduce illegal parking, and enhance traffic flow, particularly in busy commercial and key urban areas. The initiative is also expected to improve services for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Sharjah currently has approximately 124,000 paid public parking spaces throughout the emirate.

The municipality further confirmed that the extension of operating hours will not result in any increase in seasonal subscription fees. Instead, subscribers will benefit from two additional hours of parking coverage each day, increasing the exemption period from 14 hours to 16 hours.
