Severe Heatwave and Power Outages Cause Hardship in Quetta

Quetta: A severe heatwave combined with prolonged and unannounced power outages has left residents of Quetta facing extreme difficulties, with citizens urging authorities to take immediate notice of the situation.
According to reports, electricity supply remains disrupted for hours across several areas of the provincial capital, including Jinnah Road, Liaquat Bazaar, Mission Road, Shaldra, Killi Durrani, Pashtunabad, Kharotabad, Jinnah Town, Shahbaz Town, Lehri Gate, Nawan Killi, Airport Road, Prince Road, and Abdul Sattar Road, among others.
Residents said that continuous load-shedding, frequent power fluctuations, and low voltage have worsened the situation during the ongoing heatwave. They added that elderly people and children are suffering the most due to extreme weather conditions.
Citizens also complained that electrical appliances have been damaged due to voltage instability, while the power supply company, K-Electric (QESCO in the region), continues to issue heavy electricity bills despite minimal supply.
Locals demanded an immediate end to unannounced load-shedding and restoration of stable electricity supply. They warned that if the situation does not improve, they may be forced to take to the streets in protest.
Authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the prolonged outages.
