KMC Decides to Introduce Fully Digital Payment System Through Raast

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to introduce a fully digital payment system through Pakistan’s instant payment platform, Raast, in a move aimed at modernizing municipal financial operations.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that payments made through Raast will ensure that funds are transferred securely, rapidly, and in real time to beneficiaries and vendors.

He described the initiative as more than just a technological upgrade, calling it a revolutionary step in municipal financial management. According to the mayor, the new system will eliminate paperwork, reduce manual processes, and end delays associated with traditional payment methods.

Murtaza Wahab stated that KMC has become the first municipal institution in Pakistan to conduct all its payments through electronic transfers.

He added that the adoption of digital payments will enhance transparency, promote good governance, and strengthen financial discipline within the organization.

The move is expected to improve efficiency in public fund management and streamline financial transactions across various departments of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
