Metro Bus Service Suspended in Islamabad Ahead of Iranian President’s Visit

ISLAMABAD, June 23, 2026 — Metro Bus service in Islamabad has been completely suspended for the day due to the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to Metro Bus authorities, the service in Islamabad will remain fully closed today. However, operations in Rawalpindi will continue from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Officials stated that service between Saddar Station and Faizabad will remain operational, while the route from IJ Principal Road (IJP) to Pak Secretariat will stay suspended throughout the day.
In addition, all recreational trails in Islamabad have also been closed as part of security arrangements.
The Iranian president is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today for an official visit. According to Iranian officials, the visit aims to acknowledge Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating mediation between the United States and Iran.
During the visit, President Pezeshkian is also expected to express gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s diplomatic role.
The capital city has been decorated in preparation for the high-level visit, with enhanced security measures in place across Islamabad.
