Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet for Muharram Moon Sighting

Islamabad: The meeting of Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH is set to begin shortly in Lahore.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the meeting will be held at the historic Badshahi Mosque and chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.
The ministry stated that zonal moon-sighting committee meetings are also being held across the country. In Islamabad, the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will take place at Kohsar Block.
Meanwhile, the zonal committee meeting in Peshawar is also scheduled to begin shortly to receive and review reports regarding the sighting of the Muharram moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will evaluate testimonies received from various parts of the country before announcing its official decision regarding the beginning of Muharram and the date of Ashura.
