Shandana Gulzar Criticizes Federal Budget, Calls It a ‘Budget of Two Dynastic Families’
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly Shandana Gulzar has strongly criticized the 2026-27 federal budget, describing it as a budget of “two dynastic families” that, she said, would bring further economic hardship to the country.
Speaking during the budget debate in the National Assembly, Gulzar termed the proposed budget the worst among the last five budgets and claimed that it would make the poor even poorer.
She argued that Pakistan’s economic situation was better during PTI’s tenure in government and alleged that the removal of the party’s founder was driven by motives against the country’s interests.
The PTI lawmaker further stated that the budget reflects the priorities of two political families and warned that it would lead to economic destruction. Criticizing the government’s poverty criteria, she said it was contradictory to consider a person earning Rs8,400 as poor while excluding someone earning Rs8,500 from the same category.
Gulzar urged the government to adopt policies that provide genuine relief to low-income segments of society rather than increasing their financial burden.
