Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’ Faces Fresh Setback as Director Exits Project

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Karan Johar’s much-awaited film Dostana 2 has encountered another major hurdle after director Advait Chandan reportedly stepped away from the project.
According to Indian media reports, the film has faced a series of setbacks since its inception. The project suffered a significant blow when actor Kartik Aaryan exited the film, leading to a temporary suspension of production. Later, reports also suggested that actress Janhvi Kapoor was no longer associated with the project.
The latest development indicates that the film has now lost its director as well. According to Variety India, Advait Chandan decided to leave the project after working on its development for nearly seven months, citing personal reasons and creative differences.
Sources familiar with the matter said there was no major dispute behind the decision, but differing creative visions ultimately led to his departure.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Sini Shetty has been finalized for a leading role in the film. The former Miss India World 2022 is expected to make her Bollywood debut through the project.
The film’s storyline is reportedly centered on two siblings who fall in love with the same person, leading to a series of romantic complications, comedy, and misunderstandings.
Earlier, actor Vikrant Massey confirmed in an interview that he would be part of the film, marking his first collaboration with Karan Johar’s production house.
However, some reports have also suggested that actor Lakshya may no longer be associated with the project. The production team has yet to officially announce the complete cast.
Since its announcement, Dostana 2 has been plagued by repeated changes and uncertainty, but fans continue to await an official update on the film’s final cast and release plans.
