NEPRA Seeks Report from K-Electric Over Prolonged Load Shedding Amid Extreme Heat

ISLAMABAD:** The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has sought a report from K-Electric regarding prolonged power outages affecting consumers during the ongoing heatwave.
According to NEPRA officials, K-Electric has been carrying out load shedding in several areas despite soaring temperatures, causing hardship for residents.
Officials stated that the utility company is allegedly not adhering to its announced load-shedding schedule. The regulator has also received complaints regarding delays in resolving power faults in various localities.
NEPRA further noted that electricity consumers have reported hours-long outages, prompting concerns over the quality and reliability of power supply during the peak summer season.
The regulatory authority is expected to review K-Electric’s response and assess whether the company has complied with its service obligations. The issue has drawn significant public attention as residents continue to face electricity disruptions amid intense heat.
K-Electric has yet to publicly respond to the latest concerns raised by the regulator.
