Thunderstorms and Rain Expected Across Punjab Until June 5, Says Met Office

LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain in most districts of Punjab from today through June 5.

According to the Met Office, a system of westerly winds is expected to enter the upper parts of the country, bringing unstable weather conditions to several regions.

The department said that heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur at isolated locations across Punjab during the forecast period.

Meanwhile, the PMD has warned that intense heat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could increase the risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and flash flooding in vulnerable mountainous areas.

In response to the potential threat, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra, advising authorities to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
