Power Outage Disrupts Electric Bus Service in Karachi

Karachi:** Unannounced electricity load shedding has partially disrupted the electric bus service in Karachi, affecting operations at key routes, according to the administration of the Peoples Bus Service.

Officials said that power supply at the Mehran Depot has remained suspended for the past three days, forcing authorities to deploy hybrid buses instead of fully electric vehicles.

The affected electric routes include EV-1, which operates from Malir Cantt to Sea View, EV-3 from Malir Cantt to Numaish, and the R-1 Pink Bus service running from Khokhrapar to Dockyard.

Administration officials stated that all three routes are part of the electric bus network operated from the Mehran Depot. They warned that if electricity supply is not restored soon, the suspension of these routes may become unavoidable.

The disruption has raised concerns over the reliability of infrastructure support for electric public transport in the city, which is still in its expansion phase.
