Pakistan Proposes Over Rs4 Trillion National Development Budget for FY2026-27

Islamabad:** Pakistan is considering a national development budget exceeding Rs4 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27, as the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meets today to finalize key economic targets and development priorities.

The APCC is expected to recommend a macroeconomic framework to the National Economic Council (NEC), including a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth target of 4 percent and an inflation target of 8.2 percent based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The NEC meeting, scheduled for June 3, 2026, will be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The council is expected to approve the macroeconomic framework and national development expenditures for the next fiscal year.

According to the proposed development plan, the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) has been estimated at Rs1.126 trillion. Meanwhile, the combined size of provincial Annual Development Programmes (ADPs) is expected to remain close to Rs3 trillion.

The proposed development spending aims to support economic growth, infrastructure development, and public-sector investment as the government seeks to strengthen the country’s economic recovery and maintain macroeconomic stability.
