Violence Erupts in Paris Following PSG’s Champions League Triumph

Celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) victory turned violent in the French capital as incidents of arson, vandalism, and clashes with police were reported across Paris.

According to reports, protesters threw petrol bombs and attacked shops, while confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement left seven police officers injured. Several individuals set fire to trash bins and other objects on the streets, causing damage to dozens of vehicles.

Some protesters also launched fireworks directly at police officers deployed in the area.

French police arrested more than 400 people during the unrest and reportedly recovered bottles containing acid from some of those detained.

Authorities had deployed around 22,000 security personnel across Paris amid fears of possible disturbances. Despite the extensive security presence, officials were unable to prevent the widespread disorder.

The unrest came after PSG secured the UEFA Champions League title by defeating Arsenal, sparking celebrations that later escalated into violence in parts of the city.
