Newly Married Woman Killed in Alleged Honour Killing in Sanghar

SANGHAR: A young woman who had married just 15 days ago was allegedly killed in the name of “honour” in Sindh’s Sanghar district, police said.

The incident took place in Chak No. 81 Mang area, where the victim was reportedly brought back from Balochistan two days before the murder.

According to authorities, the deceased had married Ali Nawaz Abro of Noshki 15 days earlier.

Police have arrested the victim’s brother Khameeso Kandani, father-in-law Fareed Abro, and mediator Ahmed Shah in connection with the case, while raids are ongoing to apprehend other suspects. The body has been taken into custody for post-mortem examination.

Shazia Marri, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, condemned the incident and said that a murder case would be registered on behalf of the state.

She vowed that all those involved in the crime would be brought to justice, adding that killings of innocent girls in the name of honour would not be tolerated.

Shazia Marri further said that outdated mindsets cannot be allowed to justify taking human lives. She noted that women are often targeted and killed under the pretext of personal disputes and regressive social attitudes.

She added that police would conduct a transparent investigation and build a strong case to ensure the accused are prosecuted under the law.
