Mobile phone imports surge by over 29% during first 10 months of current fiscal year

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s mobile phone imports increased by more than 29 percent during the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2025-26, crossing $1.62 billion, while local manufacturing and assembly of mobile phones also recorded growth.
According to sources, total mobile phone imports during the July-April period of the current fiscal year reached $1.62 billion, compared to $1.25 billion during the same period last year.
In April alone, mobile phone imports stood at $176 million, reflecting a 19 percent increase compared to the corresponding month last year, while on a year-on-year basis the increase was recorded at 41 percent.
In terms of Pakistani rupees, the total value of mobile phone imports reached Rs455 billion, compared to Rs349 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Overall mobile phone imports for fiscal year 2024-25 were recorded at $1.49 billion.
Meanwhile, local manufacturing and assembly of mobile phones also witnessed improvement across the country.
In March 2026, the local industry manufactured or assembled more than 2.7 million mobile phones, while total production during the first quarter of 2026 reached 7.3 million units, marking a 2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
