Weather alert issued as rain and hailstorms likely across country

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast regarding the weather conditions in different parts of the country for the next few days.

Rain and hail are expected in the northern areas, while a severe heat wave is expected in the southern parts.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain and hail are likely in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today to May 23, while similar weather activities are also expected in different parts of Punjab and Islamabad.

Similarly, rain and hail are also expected in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

On the other hand, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that the intensity of heat will increase in Sindh, South Punjab, and East Balochistan from May 19, and there is a possibility of a heat wave in these areas.

According to the NDMA, the temperature may exceed 42 degrees Celsius in some places between May 19 and 26, which is likely to increase health problems.

The NDMA spokesperson has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the intense sun, consume more water, and avoid dehydration.

The agency has also warned that the risk of melting glaciers and landslides in northern regions may increase due to the increase in temperature
