Balochistan Restores Jobs Quota for Families of Deceased Government Employees

QUETTA – The Government of Balochistan has restored appointments under the quota reserved for children and widows of government employees who die during service, following a ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court.

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued an official notification directing all administrative secretaries, commissioners, and relevant departments to strictly implement the court’s decision.

According to the notification issued by Under Secretary Regulation Abdul Bari Kasi, the Federal Constitutional Court clarified in its recent judgment that the Supreme Court’s decision to abolish Rule 11-A would apply prospectively and would not affect cases where the legal right had already been established before the ruling.

The court observed that the family’s right to appointment arises at the time of the employee’s death, while the processing of applications and issuance of appointment orders are merely administrative procedures.

Following legal consultation, all departments have been instructed to complete pending cases that had been processed or finalized before October 18, 2024, but whose appointment orders had not yet been issued, provided all legal requirements are fulfilled.

The decision has brought relief and happiness to hundreds of affected families across Balochistan who had been waiting for appointment orders for a long time.
