PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails Civilian Liaquat as National Hero After Terror Incident

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to a citizen named Liaquat, calling him a national hero after he lost his life while preventing a potential terrorist attack.

The Prime Minister said that Liaquat, acting as a responsible citizen, attempted to stop a suspected suicide bomber and questioned his identity. In response, the attacker reportedly detonated himself, resulting in Liaquat’s death as well.

According to official details, the incident took place near the area of Kohat, close to the Janjd and Khushal Garh Bridge, where a suspicious individual believed to be a terrorist was moving through fields.

The Prime Minister said Liaquat’s timely action prevented a larger tragedy and saved many lives, describing his courage as an extraordinary example of bravery, duty, and patriotism.

He added that such fearless citizens represent the true spirit of national resolve against terrorism and that Liaquat’s sacrifice will always be remembered as an inspiration for the nation.

Authorities said the attacker was a suspected suicide bomber who panicked after being stopped and detonated explosives, killing himself along with Liaquat, a former employee of Pakistan Railways.

The government has reiterated that Liaquat’s sacrifice stands as a symbol of civilian bravery in the fight against terrorism.
