Another Transshipment Vessel Docks at Gwadar Port as Maritime Activity Increases

GWADAR: Maritime activity at Gwadar Port continues to grow as another transshipment cargo vessel successfully docked at the port on Monday.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the successful berthing of the vessel MV Yuan Hong Wei at Gwadar Port, describing it as another positive development for regional trade and shipping operations.

According to the minister, the ship is carrying 34,000 tons of bulk cargo along with an additional 20,000 tons of other goods. Cargo destined for Abu Dhabi and Kuwait will be unloaded at Gwadar.

The maritime affairs minister stated that international shipping companies are increasingly showing confidence in Gwadar Port, adding that the port is gradually emerging as an important hub for regional trade.

Meanwhile, the federal government has also announced significant reductions in tariffs at Gwadar Port to encourage global transit traffic and attract more shipping activity.

Under the new measures, berthing fees have been reduced by 25 percent, while charges on transshipment containers have been cut by 40 percent. Port charges on container cargo have also been reduced by up to 31 percent.

In addition, general cargo storage at Gwadar Port will remain free of charge for up to one month under the revised policy.
