Mitchell Starc Hopes to Feature in ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, Makes Key Career Remarks

Canberra (Khabar Agency) – Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has expressed optimism about extending his international cricket career and remains hopeful of featuring in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Starc, one of Australia’s premier pacers, said he is aiming to continue playing at the highest level for a few more years, leaving the door open for participation in the 2027 World Cup.
The left-arm fast bowler has taken 759 wickets across all formats in his 16-year international career, making him the third-most successful Australian bowler after legends Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
Earlier, Starc stepped away from T20 International cricket in September to manage his workload and extend his career in Test and One Day International formats.
The next ODI World Cup is scheduled for October–November 2027 and will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Speaking to Reuters, Starc said he has enjoyed playing alongside some of Australia’s best teammates and continues to thrive in competitive cricket.
He also acknowledged the physical demands of international cricket but noted that his body remains in good condition despite minor issues.
“There’s always something going on. I’ve got a bit of an elbow and shoulder issue that I’m still managing,” he said.
Starc recently played a key role in Australia’s 4-1 Ashes series victory against England, where he was named Player of the Series.
Reflecting on the future, he added that the 2027 World Cup is a long journey ahead but remains a strong personal goal, stating that every cricketer dreams of playing in a World Cup.
