Cases Registered Against Police Personnel Involved in Misconduct and Abuse of Power: DIG Quetta

Quetta: Imran Shaukat has said that police have registered multiple cases and arrested personnel involved in crimes, corruption, and misuse of authority, while a kidnapped child has also been safely recovered in a ransom case.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, the DIG said that on June 4, police signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop near Podgali Chowk. However, when the driver failed to comply, police opened fire, resulting in the death of a man identified as Safeer Ahmed.
He said immediate action was taken after the incident, and three police personnel — Raz Muhammad, Dilawar Khan, and Adnan — were booked and arrested.
Imran Shaukat further stated that on June 1, authorities received a complaint alleging that officials of the Eagle Squad City had taken a bribe from two youths, Aftab Ahmed and Faizan Imran. Following an inquiry, Eagle Squad personnel Mohibullah, Adil Rashid, and Taj Muhammad were arrested and booked, while legal proceedings are underway.
The DIG also said that the Special Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW) successfully recovered kidnapped child Muzammil Ahmed during an operation conducted near Eastern Bypass in a kidnapping-for-ransom case. A female suspect identified as Muzalfa, daughter of Abdul Baqi, was arrested during the raid.
He emphasized that strict action against criminals, corrupt officials, and police personnel involved in abuse of power would continue, adding that no one is above the law.
Imran Shaukat revealed that 23 people were killed in Quetta last month, of which 21 murders were the result of personal enmity.
He added that the city is facing multiple security threats and that strict security measures are being implemented. According to the DIG, around 150 threats have been received since last month, while terrorists are changing their methods of operation, prompting police and security agencies to continuously revise their strategies.
