SHO Killed in Alleged Friendly Fire Incident in Shikarpur, Probe Underway

Shikarpur: In a tragic incident in Sindh’s Shikarpur district, a Station House Officer (SHO) was reportedly killed by gunfire from his own police team in what is suspected to be a case of mistaken identity.
According to media reports, SHO Ali Hassan of Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station was fatally shot near Garhi Yasin in the early hours of the morning. SSP Muhammad Kaleem stated that the incident occurred around 5:00 AM when the officer was traveling in his newly purchased private vehicle.
Police personnel stationed in the Glodero area reportedly mistook the vehicle for suspicious movement in the darkness. Despite signaling the car to stop, they opened fire, resulting in the SHO’s death on the spot.
The incident triggered immediate concern among police authorities. The officer responsible for the firing has been taken into custody and shifted to the quarter guard, where a departmental inquiry has been initiated.
Inspector General of Sindh Police, Javed Alam Odho, has taken strict notice of the incident and directed DIG Larkana, Nasir Aftab, to submit a detailed report.
Authorities are currently investigating whether the incident was purely a misunderstanding or if other factors were involved.
