Pakistan Military Warns Afghan Taliban Policy of Sheltering Militants Backfiring: Corps Commanders Conference

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s military leadership has expressed serious concern over the security situation in neighboring Afghanistan, stating that the Afghan Taliban’s policy of providing safe havens to militant groups is now backfiring and exposing the regime globally.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the remarks were made during the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir.
The forum conducted a detailed review of both domestic and regional security dynamics and reaffirmed its resolve to continue ongoing counterterrorism operations with full momentum to eliminate militant networks and their support infrastructure.
The conference highlighted progress under Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, stating that terrorists and their facilitators are being systematically weakened through sustained operations.
The military leadership termed the Afghan Taliban’s policies “misguided and unrealistic,” alleging that by offering sanctuary to “Khawarij” and other militant groups, the regime is acting against the interests of its own people and facing the consequences of its approach.
The forum also rejected allegations from Afghan authorities accusing Pakistan of targeting civilians inside Afghanistan, calling them part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at diverting attention from internal failures and portraying victimhood.
It was emphasized that Pakistan’s defensive actions are precise, targeted, and exclusively directed against terrorists, their hideouts, and infiltrators.
Reviewing broader regional developments, the forum noted that emerging geopolitical changes could have significant implications for stability. It stressed the importance of restraint and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a responsible role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The conference also marked the first anniversary of “Maarka-e-Haq,” describing it as a symbol of national unity and a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty.
The statement added that the armed forces, government, and people of Pakistan remain united like “Bunyan-un-Marsoos” against all internal and external threats.
The forum strongly condemned ongoing human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, including extrajudicial killings and alleged demographic changes, and reiterated Pakistan’s diplomatic, political, and moral support for the people of the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness and professionalism of the armed forces, directing commanders to remain vigilant and maintain high readiness in light of evolving security challenges.
