CM Balochistan Meets Senate Chairman, Agrees on Strengthening Democratic Institutions and Federal Harmony

Islamabad: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti met Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani at his residence on Tuesday, where they discussed matters of mutual interest, the prevailing political situation, the role of the Senate, and other key national issues.
During the meeting, both leaders agreed on the need to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold parliamentary supremacy, and promote greater harmony among federal units of the country.
Chief Minister Bugti stated that the Senate of Pakistan is a prestigious constitutional forum that provides equal representation to all federating units and plays a vital role in promoting national unity. He added that the upper house serves as a key pillar in strengthening democratic continuity and federal stability.
He also termed the success of security forces in the so-called “Battle of Truth” as historic, saying it reflected professional excellence and the unmatched unity of the nation. He noted that the people of Pakistan stood united during challenging times, thwarting hostile designs, and paid tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel.

Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that Balochistan holds a special place in his heart and that the province’s development and prosperity remain among national priorities. He emphasized that effective parliamentary representation from Balochistan reflects national unity and that the province’s progress is directly linked with a stronger federation.
He further assured that the upper house would continue to play its role in safeguarding the rights of Balochistan and ensuring their effective representation at the national level.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Agha Shahzeb Khan Durrani and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Agha Shakeel Durrani.
