New York Mayor Says He Would Urge King Charles to Return Koh-i-Noor Diamond

New York: New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he would raise the issue of the return of the historic Koh-i-Noor diamond with King Charles III if given the opportunity.
Mamdani made the remarks during a press conference held ahead of an event commemorating the victims of the September 11 attacks. Responding to a journalist’s question about the British monarch’s visit and potential discussions, he stated that he would ask King Charles to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond.
The mayor later met the British monarch at the event. However, Buckingham Palace declined to comment on Mamdani’s statement. Similarly, the mayor’s office did not confirm whether the matter was raised during the meeting.
The Koh-i-Noor, a 105-carat diamond, has long been a subject of dispute, with India having repeatedly called for its return from the United Kingdom.
