One Lebanese Soldier Killed, Two Wounded in Blast in Southern Lebanon

Beirut:One Lebanese soldier was killed and two others, including an officer, were injured after an explosion struck an army vehicle in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The incident occurred in the Al-Mansouri area of the Tyre district, where a suspicious object near a military vehicle suddenly exploded.

In a brief statement, the Lebanese Army said an investigation had been launched into the incident. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the blast or identified those responsible.

Lebanese broadcaster Al-Manar reported that the explosion was likely caused by unexploded Israeli ordnance left behind from previous military operations. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed.

The army confirmed that one soldier died at the scene, while an officer and another soldier were seriously injured and transported to a hospital for treatment. One of the injured personnel remains in critical condition.

The blast comes despite a ceasefire agreement reached through US-mediated negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, as tensions along the border continue.

Recent months of clashes and airstrikes between Israel and Hezbollah have left large quantities of unexploded ammunition and explosive remnants in border areas, posing ongoing risks to both civilians and security forces.

The Lebanese government has previously protested incidents in which Israeli strikes reportedly hit Lebanese military personnel, resulting in multiple casualties.
