IMF Board to Review $1.2 Billion Tranche for Pakistan on May 8

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has scheduled a meeting of its Executive Board on May 8 to approve the next installment of $1.2 billion for Pakistan.

According to an official statement issued by the IMF, the board will review the third economic assessment under Pakistan’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme. Approval is also expected for the second review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), which focuses on climate change-related financing.

The development follows a staff-level agreement reached between Pakistan and the IMF on March 27.

If approved, the disbursement would be part of ongoing financial support aimed at stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and strengthening fiscal reforms under the IMF programme.
