JUI-F Warns Government Against Action on Religious Seminaries, Threatens Nationwide Protest

Quetta / Jacobabad (Daily Qudrat): Senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Member of National Assembly Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has warned the government against any attempt to shut down or impose restrictions on religious seminaries, calling such institutions a “red line” for his party.
Speaking in a conversation with JUI-F Sindh spokesperson Dr A.G. Ansari, Haideri said that religious seminaries are a fundamental pillar of Pakistan’s educational and religious system and any move against them would be strongly resisted.
He warned that if the government tries to close seminaries or impose unnecessary restrictions, it would face serious consequences, adding that the responsibility for any resulting situation would lie with the authorities.
Haideri further stated that students and teachers of religious seminaries would take all possible steps to defend their rights. He emphasized that seminaries have always played a significant role in serving the country and their contributions cannot be ignored.
He alleged that a policy of marginalizing religious seminaries is unacceptable and reiterated that JUI-F would fully protect them “at all costs.” He also warned that if pressure continues, the party reserves the right to launch a nationwide protest movement.
The JUI-F leader concluded that any form of interference in religious seminaries would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
