Balochistan Sitting on a “Powder Keg”, Forced Disappearances Worsening Situation: Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman

Quetta: Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman has said that excessive use of force and enforced disappearances have pushed Balochistan to a critical point, describing the province as “a powder keg.”

Addressing various gatherings in Quetta and Mastung, and meeting delegations, he said that the provincial government has failed to address the sense of deprivation among the people.

He stressed that immediate and revolutionary steps are needed to provide employment opportunities and quality education to the youth in order to ensure sustainable peace and real development in the province.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman demanded the reopening of border trade routes and called for the immediate end of enforced disappearances. He urged authorities to produce all missing persons in court so that the suffering of their families could end.

He also said that humiliation of citizens at check posts and border areas is unacceptable and must be stopped immediately. According to him, continuous neglect of Balochistan’s issues and treating the province as a “testing ground” is not acceptable under any circumstances.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader further stated that lack of access to education, healthcare, employment, peace, trade, and justice has intensified feelings of deprivation, leading to growing unrest and resentment among the population.

He warned that if timely steps are not taken, the situation could further deteriorate. He urged both federal and provincial governments to adopt concrete and practical measures, ensure fair distribution of resources, and involve local communities in development projects.

He reiterated that Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for the rights of the people of Balochistan, peace in the region, and prosperity at all levels without any compromise.
