High-Level Committee Formed for Comprehensive Audit of Government Vehicles in Balochistan

Quetta: A high-level committee has been formed in line with the directives of the Chief Minister of Balochistan to conduct a comprehensive audit of the use and allocation of official government vehicles across the province.

According to an official notification, the main objective of the audit is to ensure transparent and efficient use of public resources.

The Secretary of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has been appointed as the chairperson of the committee, while the Secretary Finance and Secretary Transport, Services and Administration Department will serve as its members.

The committee has been directed to carry out a detailed review of all government departments, attached departments, autonomous bodies, and subordinate offices to assess whether official vehicles are being used in accordance with rules and regulations.

It will also identify cases where vehicles are being used beyond entitlement, without proper authorization, or are involved in misuse, illegal allocation, or unnecessary retention.

Furthermore, the committee will propose reforms to ensure transparency, better management, and improved monitoring of official vehicles. It will also recommend actions regarding surplus vehicles, including their return or disposal.

The committee has been instructed to review the Balochistan Civil Car Rules 1988 and suggest amendments if required to improve efficiency and governance.

All departments have been directed to appoint a Grade-19 focal person within 48 hours to facilitate the audit process and provide all required records and data to the committee.

The committee has been given 15 days to submit its comprehensive report and recommendations to the competent authority.
