Fake Social Media Pages Impersonating Karachi Inter Board Exposed

Karachi: A number of fake social media accounts operating under the name of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) have been uncovered, raising serious concerns about the spread of misleading educational information among students.
According to officials, at least 24 fake Facebook accounts, 8 fraudulent Instagram profiles, and one fake WhatsApp account have been identified using the board’s name. These accounts have reportedly been sharing incorrect and potentially harmful academic information.
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has formally approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), urging immediate action against the fake accounts. In an official letter, the board requested authorities to block these accounts and initiate a crackdown on groups misleading students.
The board emphasized that only one official, Meta-verified account should be considered authentic, warning students against relying on unverified sources for educational updates.
Additional Director of NCCIA, Tariq Nawaz, confirmed that action has already begun against the fake pages and groups. He added that authorities are also investigating whether these platforms have been involved in potential exam paper leaks.
Officials have urged students and parents to remain cautious and verify information through official channels to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
