Court Extends Interim Bail of Dr. Fazeela Abbasi in Money Laundering Case

Islamabad: A special court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of renowned dermatologist Dr. Fazeela Abbasi in an ongoing money laundering case, directing her to join the investigation today.
The hearing was conducted at the Special Court Central by Judge Humayun Dilawar, where Dr. Abbasi appeared before the court. The judge ordered that her interim bail be extended until April 20 and restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting her until then.
During the proceedings, the court noted that interim bail had already been in effect for three months and emphasized that the accused must comply with the high court’s directives by fully cooperating with the investigation.
The court also issued strict instructions for Dr. Abbasi to appear before the FIA today and participate in the inquiry process.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abbasi submitted a request to restore a joint bank account she holds with Hamza Ali Abbasi, which had previously been frozen by the FIA as part of the money laundering investigation.
According to the prosecution, the FIA has already submitted its challan (charge sheet) in the case, and a written response from Dr. Abbasi has also been filed. Her counsel, Naeem Bukhari, argued that there had been no misuse of bail as per the high court’s observations. Dr. Abbasi also maintained that she had appeared before the FIA multiple times.
The FIA has registered two cases against Dr. Abbasi in connection with the alleged money laundering. The court adjourned further hearing of the case until April 20.
