Punjab Govt Moves Ahead with Petrol Subsidy Plan for Motorcyclists

Islamabad (News Desk) — In a major relief initiative for motorcyclists, the Punjab government has made significant progress on its proposed bikers’ subsidy program aimed at providing cheaper petrol.
According to official sources, the Finance Department has requested funds worth Rs24 billion for the scheme and forwarded a summary to the Chief Minister for approval. The funds are expected to be released once the proposal receives formal approval.
Under the plan, approximately 12.5 million motorcyclists across the province are expected to benefit from a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000. In addition, a proposal is under consideration to provide a subsidy of up to Rs100 per liter of petrol.
Excise department sources revealed that more than 8 million bikers have already registered for the scheme. Since 1980, nearly 50 million motorcycles have been registered in Punjab.
Officials stated that the subsidy program will be formally launched after the completion of the registration process. The initiative is expected to provide significant financial relief to citizens struggling with rising fuel costs.
