Pakistan Plans $1 Billion Investment in Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure

The federal government in Islamabad has decided to invest $1 billion in artificial intelligence (AI), marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s digital and technological capabilities.

According to sources, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is set to launch a foundational infrastructure development project focused on AI. The initiative will include the provision of advanced computing power and GPUs to support the sector’s growth.

The project will be implemented through the Ignite National Technology Fund, which will oversee the development of AI infrastructure across the country.

Under the plan, both public and private sector entities will gain access to high-performance computing resources, enabling innovation and accelerating research and development in AI-related fields.

Officials say that the availability of GPUs will be a transformative step, significantly enhancing Pakistan’s ability to compete in modern computing and emerging technologies.

The initiative is expected to boost industrial capacity, encourage innovation, and position Pakistan as a growing player in the global AI landscape.
