UK PM Keir Starmer Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role in Iran-US Ceasefire

Islamabad: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, commending Pakistan’s key diplomatic role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and hosting peace talks in Islamabad.

During the call, Starmer congratulated Pakistan on successfully hosting what he described as significant peace negotiations and praised its efforts in promoting regional stability. He also conveyed his best wishes for the continued success of the peace process.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to regional peace and stability and welcomed the joint statement issued by European and international leaders supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.

Both leaders agreed that sustaining the current ceasefire is crucial for ensuring lasting peace and creating a conducive environment in the region. They also discussed strengthening long-standing bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom across various sectors of mutual interest.

The conversation concluded with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterating his invitation to Keir Starmer for an official visit to Pakistan, further reflecting the commitment to deepen ties between the two countries.
