Balochistan Issues Revised Timings for Markets and Wedding Halls Under Energy Saving Plan

Quetta: Under the national austerity policy, the Government of Balochistan has issued a revised notification regarding operating hours for markets, wedding halls, and restaurants across the province as part of an energy conservation plan.
According to Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Balochistan, the decision was made following an agreement between the provincial government and trader organizations to ensure efficient energy use and fuel conservation.
As per the notification, all shops, markets, shopping centers, public parks, and recreational places across Balochistan will close at 8:00 PM. However, pharmacies, home delivery services, and traditional bakeries (tandoors) will be exempted to facilitate the public.
Wedding halls, banquet halls, restaurants, and other event venues will be allowed to operate until 10:00 PM across the province, while in Quetta, the closing time has been extended to 11:00 PM.
The Home Department has directed district administrations and law enforcement agencies to strictly enforce these measures, warning that violations will result in legal action under relevant laws.
Officials stated that these steps are part of a broader national austerity policy aimed at balancing energy consumption and ensuring efficient use of public resources.
