Talks Succeed as Protest Over Karezat District Status Suspended for 10 Days

Pishin – Negotiations between a Balochistan government delegation and the protest committee over granting district status to Karezat have concluded successfully, leading to the suspension of the احتجاج (sit-in) for 10 days.

The protest, which had been ongoing at Khanozai, was called off after participants accepted government assurances. Traffic on the national highway, which had been disrupted due to the sit-in, has now been fully restored.

The government delegation, led by Provincial Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, included Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, opposition MPA Asghar Khan Tareen, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilal Khan Kakar, Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Khan Kakar, and other officials.

During the مذاکرات (talks), detailed discussions were held with members of the protest committee, which included representatives of political and religious parties as well as tribal elders. Both sides agreed to continue consultations through a joint committee to further deliberate on the demand for Karezat to be declared a district.

Addressing the gathering, Mir Ziaullah Langove stated that the Balochistan government has formed a high-level committee to review the matter. He said representatives of the protest committee would be invited to participate in discussions, after which recommendations would be finalized and presented before the provincial cabinet.

He emphasized that the government aims to resolve the issue amicably through dialogue and mutual understanding. Langove also thanked the protesters for suspending the sit-in, assuring them that the government would seriously consider the committee’s recommendations.

The development marks a temporary easing of tensions, with further مذاکرات expected in the coming days to reach a lasting resolution.
