Sindh Government Announces Direct Subsidy of Rs 2,000 Per Month for Motorcycle Owners

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – In response to the recent sharp increase in petrol and diesel prices, the Sindh government has launched a direct subsidy program, under which motorcycle owners will receive Rs 2,000 per month in financial assistance.

According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, providing cheaper fuel at petrol pumps under the federal scheme was not administratively feasible. Therefore, the provincial government decided to transfer the subsidy directly to citizens’ bank or digital accounts.

Subsidy Calculation and Eligibility:
The Rs 2,000 monthly subsidy is calculated based on 20 liters of petrol per month at a rate of Rs 100 per liter. To qualify, the motorcycle must be registered in the owner’s name and linked to a valid bank or digital account.

Motorcycles Not Registered in Owner’s Name:
For those using motorcycles registered in someone else’s name, the government has waived transfer fees, allowing citizens to transfer ownership to their name free of cost to become eligible for the program.

Registration Process:
The Sindh Excise Department is launching a dedicated mobile application within 2–3 days. Citizens can register using their National Identity Card (NIC) and provide bank account details.

Disbursement Timeline:
Once registration is verified, the subsidy will be credited directly to eligible accounts within approximately 15 days. Payments are expected to begin between April 15 and April 20.

Program Duration:
The initiative is currently being implemented on a one-month trial basis. Depending on its success and transparency, the program may be extended further.

Other Subsidy Measures:
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also announced subsidies for small farmers affected by diesel price hikes, with Rs 1,500 per acre for roughly 2 million acres. Public transport and goods vehicle operators will receive monthly financial assistance of Rs 100,000, 70,000, and 80,000, respectively.
