25 Killed, 77 Injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Due to Heavy Rain, PDMA Reports

Peshawar: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released an updated report on the losses caused by ongoing rains in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25.

According to the report, 25 people have lost their lives and 77 others were injured due to collapsing roofs and walls. Among the deceased are 18 children, 2 men, and 5 women, while the injured include 33 men, 9 women, and 35 children.

The PDMA stated that a total of 88 homes have been damaged, with 71 partially destroyed and 17 completely demolished. The incidents occurred across multiple districts including Bannu, Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar, Nowshera, Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Hangu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Upper Dir, Battagram, North Waziristan, and Tank.

Rescue and relief efforts are underway by PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant agencies. The Director General of PDMA has directed the authorities to provide immediate relief to the affected and ensure financial assistance for the families of the deceased.

The report further warns that intermittent rainfall is expected in several districts, with more rain forecasted from April 1 to April 4. The PDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist spots, and follow government advisories.

The PDMA spokesperson added that the Emergency Operations Center is fully functional, and citizens can contact the helpline at 1700 for information regarding any weather-related incidents or emergencies.
