Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party to Hold Major Rally on 10th May; Demands Release of Ali Wazir, Criticizes Central Control Over Mineral Resources

Quetta (April 1, 2026): The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP), a leading political party representing the Pashtun Afghan nation, announced plans to hold a major public rally on May 10 in Quetta to commemorate the 9th death anniversary of their late leader, Ustad Abdul Rahim Mandokhail.

Speaking at the PNAP district committee meeting in Quetta, provincial president Nasrullah Khan Zare, along with senior leaders, emphasized that the party is working tirelessly to secure the national rights and autonomy of the Pashtun people while addressing issues of backwardness and deprivation in the region. The meeting also discussed preparations for local unit conferences and a voter outreach campaign to strengthen the party’s organizational structure.

The party strongly condemned the continuous detention of Ali Wazir, calling it a severe violation of the Constitution, law, and human rights, and demanded his immediate release. Despite being acquitted in all cases by the Sindh High Court, Ali Wazir remains in custody, the party said.

PNAP also criticized the current government, accusing it of undermining the popular mandate and calling for immediate resignation and fresh, transparent elections. The party condemned what it described as the imposition of terrorism in Pashtunkhwa and the ongoing “de facto martial law-like situation” that has affected the region.

Further, the party opposed the federal government’s control over provincial mineral resources, calling the approval of the Mines and Minerals Act by the provincial assembly a blatant violation of the Constitution, which grants full rights over minerals to the province.

The meeting also raised concerns over Quetta’s deteriorating sanitation, traffic congestion, education, health facilities, and security situation, stressing the need for urgent action.

The May 10 rally at the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation aims to mobilize strong public participation and pay tribute to Ustad Abdul Rahim Mandokhail’s legacy.
