Balochistan CM Reviews Feasibility of “Low BTU Gas”-Based Fertilizer Project

Quetta (April 1, 2026): Under the chairmanship of Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Minister of Balochistan, a high-level meeting was held at the Chief Minister Secretariat to review the feasibility of a fertilizer project based on low BTU gas. The meeting examined the strategic, technical, and economic significance of the project in detail.

The session was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mir Asghar Rind, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Vice Chairman of Balochistan Board of Investment & Trade Bilal Khan Kakr, Secretary Energy Asfandyar Khan Kakr, CEO of BBOIT Qaem Lashari, and CEO of BECL Nawaz Bugti, among other senior officials.

Officials highlighted that the project would play a key role in increasing domestic fertilizer production, strengthening national food security, promoting industrial growth in the province, and generating new employment opportunities.

CM Sarfraz Bugti directed that the project be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure efficiency, attract investment, and maintain sustainability. He emphasized prioritizing local employment and giving special attention to the development of ancillary industries to maximize economic and social benefits for the region.

Departments involved were instructed to complete the feasibility study promptly and ensure effective coordination for the speedy implementation of the project.
